Wednesday: I need sleep.

I am exhausted.  I have been trying to keep up with exercising every day.  Today I went running at 5:30pm.  What a mistake that was.  I almost passed out from the heat.  I also wore my official running shorts for the first time this year and let's just say I had a bit of chafing going on.  All in all I was glad I did go on a run but I was disappointed in my performance because of the heat and my running shorts.

Tonight I went to another Girls Camp Activity. Surprise. No it honestly is not a surprise.  My Mom mentioned on the phone today that it is taking over my life.  And she is right.  I need sleep.  I am so excited to be a part of camp but I am exhausted. So I will bid you farewell and I am off to bed.

P.S. I have a very fun evening planned for tomorrow.  I am really looking forward to it.
P.S.S. I have been working on a post of my Nephews 4th Birthday.  It will be coming soon.  I have so many pictures to upload so it has taken more time that I thought.

I want a room like this in my future home. This is taken from a favorite blog of mine called Suzels Says.

Memorial Day 2012

Today included a little bit of yard work at my parents and a family BBQ in the mountains. We were only able to spend about 2 hours at my parent’s house this morning. We did get a lot of yard work done in that short amount of time. My parent’s flower beds are looking so so so much better than what they did look like a few days ago. Progress is being made folks.

We headed up the canyon for an afternoon BBQ with Devin’s family. I need to give a big thanks to Devin’s Parents and Uncle Ray and Aunt Mary. The food was great and they really did a lot of hard work to make it a fun time for all. Thank you! I did however learn a lot at this family BBQ.

1. Never forget sunscreen. This should be a no brainer for a redhead right? Somehow my brain must have not been turned on yesterday. Let’s just say my face, part and arms are a no longer white. They are now beautifully bright and pink.

2. I don’t know what is worse, maybe you can help decide?

a. Within twenty minutes of me finishing my lunch, it had decided that it no longer wanted to be in my body. So everyone at the BBQ got to witness me frantically running for the bathroom.

b. Getting to the bathroom to find that the toilets had decided that they would not flush today and that someone had already been to the bathroom with my same problem.

3. I need to learn that what others choose to do, or how others choose to act does not reflect badly on me. I can wish or pray for things to change but the truth is they never will. I have to go on doing what I know is right and being the person I am and the person that I was taught to be. With that being said, thank you so much to my parents for teaching me to be a capable, respectful and helpful adult.

(Sorry for this rant but I had to get it out of my system. Thanks for listening.)

4. I was reminded that the game called RISK is on my list of games that I do not like.

The mountains were beautiful. The smell of the fire pit made me fall in love with summer all over again. I can’t get enough of me niece Allie and I got to hold her as much as I wanted. I had a good chat with my cousin Sarah. I loved catching up with Aunt Mary. I can’t be grateful enough for the constant care and kindness of Devin’s parents and Uncle Ray and Aunt Mary towards me.

Saturday's Happenings

Today included an awesome run. This run was not so awesome as it was taking place. I hurt in places that I did not even know could hurt. But with that being said I really pushed myself and got an awesome workout and felt great afterwards.

Cementing fence poles into the ground also happened to be on today’s agenda. My parents are having a party in their back yard at the end of June. We will be helping until then to get the yard exactly how they would like it to be for the party. It was so nice that it was not sunny and hot. The rain was a much needed blessing.

I finished my day with a little bit of shopping. I have not been clothes shopping in a while. I am not good at shopping because I could spend way too much money. There are too many clothing items that I would love to have. I did not go overboard but I did spend more than I was planning on. I was able to use a gift card that I received for a Birthday gift on a fun comfortable new skirt. I also bought a shirt and some makeup. I went shopping with Mariah. She and her husband live over and below us in our apartment building. She is great. It was fun to go to the mall with her. I have come to find that is much more fun to shop with girls!

Devin and I finished off the day together.  We watched a movie on the big screen and devoured some Trader Joe’s treats.

Let the yard work begin

Today marks the beginning of a big project.  We will be helping my parents with some yard work projects for the next month.  Today we started by using an auger to dig holes for new fence posts.  I love the hats that my Dad and Brother are sporting.

Spring Soccer

Isabel and Ean just finished up their spring outdoor soccer recreation league.  They both got to be on the same team.  Ean was finally old enough to play.  He was thrilled.  You better believe that Auntie Em made them pose for a picture with their trophy's.

Memorial Day Weekend

I am so excited to have this coming Monday off work.  I love holiday weekends.  I can hardly wait for the fun celebrations that are taking shape.  It will be a long weekend full of great food.  We will be celebrating Caelen's 4th Birthday Sunday evening.  Caelen is my nephew.  I will be making the two items below for the occasion.

I hope you have fun plans for the weekend as well!  I will be excited when work is over Friday afternoon and the weekend officially begins.

Portland Part II

On Saturday morning we took a little drive to view the city and to find breakfast. We happened upon a place that ended up being a little museum of sorts. Go figure that it was a museum of diesel trucks. My Dad didn’t show any emotion about it but I am sure he was just tickled about coming across this place. (On a side note that I can explain in more detail in a different post, my Dad is Principal of Schools for CR England Trucking Company.)

After breakfast we went back to the hotel and got dressed in our fancy clothes (aka church clothes) and headed to the graveside dedication. The cemetery in Portland is massive. It is by far the largest cemetery I have ever seen. All the gravestones were flat but there was hill after hill full of them. I have never seen such a sight. It was so beautifully green surrounded by Christmas tress (aka evergreen trees). We then proceed on to the memorial service. Teni’s grandchildren have amazing talents. One of the grandchildren played the piano like she was a teacher at Julliard. She was that good.

Early in the evening we headed back to the hotel. On the way back we took two minor detours to stop by the two stores that I wanted to purchase some items from. First we went to Trader Joe’s. I love Trader Joe’s. The food that this market supplies is the best of the best. I stocked up on my favorites. I secretly can’t wait until the day when a Trader Joe’s is announced to be opening in Utah. We also stoped at Cafe Yumm.  More on this adventure will come soon.

The drive home seemed longer than the drive to Portland.  I got to drive from Boise home to Murray.  Let's just say that I am known at times to have a lead foot.  We found Mt. Emily.  We did not stop but I was sucessful at capturing a photo from the moving car.  I also did not expect western Oregan to be not as green as Portland.  For some reason I thought the whole state was lush with Christmas trees.  We made a stop in Boise for lunch and made it home by early evening.
